My name is Louise Marritt. I've been dabbling in drawing, painting, crafting for a long time. When I was young I was constantly scribbling gifts for relatives. I was taught to knit at the age of 7 by my grandma, and this knowledge was refreshed a few years later by my mum.

I live in the small market town of Beverley in East Yorkshire, with my partner Rob, an incredibly clumsy, but beautiful cat named Jiji, four rabbits, Britney, Flissy, Felix and Star and a hamster named Piglet.

I'm currently studying Animal Management at college, following a three month volunteering spell in Thailand and Japan. At home I love to paint, draw, knit, sew and bake. I have also recently been teaching myself origami. I love to progress with different crafts, and constantly strive to teach myself new methods and techniques.

I have a long-standing love affair with Japan - and all things Japanese. I visited for the first time in October 2008 where I stayed in the business district of Shinjuku for ten days, and then returned in August 2010 for eleven days, where I sweated with the locals in Taito-Ku. Japan, and in particular Tokyo have had a huge impact on both my life and crafts.

Catface&Pancakes began in July 2009. This first knitted object I made was a small biscuit coloured koala with flannel ears, this soon evolved into a whole host of animals, from sloths to polar bears, lemurs to pugs. After a little while I began to create smaller-sized animals inspired by a range of small plush creatures that I saw in Japan. These creatures featured in large clumps on bags, jeans belt loops and singularly attached to mobile phones, this was followed by a range of owl and mameshiba badges.

The future is bright for C&P.
